Best Customer Service Experiences in the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines - There is a big difference to the (over-the-phone) customer service given by Filipinos to foreigners (through BPOs/call centers) and by Filipinos to fellow Filipinos (of local companies.) Filipinos working for BPOs are strictly guided by rules, formalities and forced rapport, while the local companies' customer representatives speak in Tagalog (or Taglish) and understand what you need perfectly -- there's no language barrier even in the slightest manner.

I don't usually call hotlines to get help. As much as possible, I go online and try to resolve the issue I am facing by myself with the help of people who've had experience the same thing. So unfortunately, there are only a few times that I have actually called or was called by these local companies, but hey, some are bad and some are good.

And good things do last. And why don't I share them now huh? I have three (3) good companies that perfectly fit the title above. The best companies with good customer services.

Globe Telecom

This Globe™ logo is a trademark of Globe Telecom
There are millions of Globe users in the Philippines. I think 95% of my phonebook contacts are Globe users. But the number of users didn't stop Globe in providing the best customer service. I have a lot of good experiences with Globe, being a prepaid subscriber since 2004-present (I guess) and postpaid by 2011-present, there are too many things to say. Take note that I am judging the customer-related service I experienced not the network's services (signal, internet speed, etc.) Here's one of them.

Scenario:

Let me choose this one time, when my prepaid phone had some missing P25 load when my company loaded my phone P550 for the first time as part of our benefits . So I decided to call just to "ask" where my PHP25 went to. It could be a service I was subscribed to or probably I accidentally dialed someone. So I called 211.

The representative I spoke with was nice. I forgot her name, though. She checked immediately on the system to see what happened. I wasn't irate at all. I don't do that. I talk calmly no matter how bad the situation is. I was calling just to see where it went to, that's all. And to my surprise, she offered to put the load back on my account instantly and apologized for what happened. That's real quick! Some companies will check it further first, and will give you 24 hours to call them back just to review their system. It's only P25, I know, but I was completely satisfied at the end of the call. Great experience.

Another point that they have is using Facebook and Twitter to offer wider assistance. Here they did tweet me and DM me just to better assist me.

Some screenshots:
This was in 2010! They Direct Message you to help.

I didn't mean to talk to them but hey, they heard my frustration! That's awesome!

Bayad Center
The corporate logo of Bayad Center
Honestly, I am not a regular customer of Bayad Center. I pay my bills online via BPI Online Express, but I go here to pay bills lately because they have this raffle that you can win a car and P5000 worth of bills. Haha.. I want the car, obviously. But hey, I had a great customer service experience with them, and I didn't call them (I don't even know their number)--THEY called me to help me! How cool is that!

Scenario:

So, like what I was saying, I joined their raffle, it's easy to join, just pay your bills and text the code to 5656 and tadah. One day, I decided to join so I paid 2 bills on a Bayad Center near our house. Then I texted the codes. Weee.. After a few days, I noticed that there weren't any confirmation texts from 5656. And that's weird, but I am good. If it didn't work, there's no problem at all. I am not really lucky with raffles anyway. Bored, I then decided to tweet them: "I am not receiving texts from your shortcode yadah yadah.." And woah, the corporate office called me right away, which I wasn't able to answer because I don't answer calls from numbers that aren't on my phonebook, but luckily, for some reason, I was able to answer it. The guy who answered was really nice and later I was able to talk to another guy, they called to tell me that all I have to do was to retext the messages because the network (which they called prior to that) had an issue that day I texted. And they called to tell me that when they could have just texted me or tweeted me that. I really appreciated the effort. They even gave me a number to call (a regular cellphone no.) just in case I would have issues in the future. I mean, I am really happy with it because when you come to think of it, it's my loss if I couldn't join the raffle, yet they treated me as though I paid for something and it was broken so they had to compensate me, but it's not the case, so that's really 2 thumbs up to these people.

BPI

This logo is copyrighted by the Bank of the Philippine Islands
The Bank of the Philippine Island or also known by everyone as BPI is one of the top banks in the country. Being a top company must  mean providing top service, and so far, there hasn't been any major complaints by people banking in their branches or by reviews by fellow bloggers. And that's dedication - "Let's make it easy." I've been banking with them for many years now. But honestly, there was nothing wrong with anything about it - I love this bank more than my other banks.

Scenario:

Having two accounts with them (my personal savings account which has no savings at all and my payroll account that receives my direct deposit from my company) didn't stop me from opening another account with them -- this time, a virtual account from BPI Direct. I applied for a SaveUP account with insurance, this serves as a savings account within my savings account. So, after checking my online account a few days later, I still couldn't see my virtual savings account on my online page. I decided to contact them. I received a call from them, the phone banker I spoke with was very very professional, I bet she's pretty, too. I love the friendly but professional tone, I was definitely sure she knew was she was doing, and that's what customer service should be about--being able to deliver the help the customer needs with conviction. After reporting what happened, she told me I would be able to see the account within 24 hours and it wasn't even 24, I guess I saw it in minutes. I was really satisfied that day, I couldn't help myself, I told the world how great the experience was.

To sum it up, I believe good customer service in the Philippines is one thing we don't usually share to others. We only talk about our bad experiences and not the good ones. I would like to thank these companies for providing me good customer service experience. I know the product can sometimes be frustrating  but never blame the representative or even shout to them. Appreciate. It's hard to do something even them cannot do - or else they wanted to be fired.

And oh I just noticed something, all of them communicated through Twitter! Weeee... Follow me @leejaedi

Well, hindi natin kontrolado yung nasa paligid natin.

Isa-isahin natin.

Taong Magaling Lang Kapag May Kailangan

Una, yung magaling lang kapag may kailangan. Ang daming taong ganito. Nagkalat yan. Kaliwa, kanan, taas, baba. Posible ring tingin nila you are their savior. Posible diba? Pero ganun pa man, nakakaasar pa rin yun. Sino ba namang gustong lapitan lang kapag may kailangan? Weird, diba?

A Talker But Never A Listener

Nakakasar to diba?

One Day Millionaire

Over Decorated Mannequins

Lamon yung tsong, lamon! Well, masarap kasi kumain kung may kashare ka.. which is true.

Haha.. Hindi ako galit ha! Nagpapaliwanag lang. Haha.. XD

Paano Magmove-on ng Mabilis!

MAYNILA, Pilipinas - Oo, oo.. Alam ko. Masakit talaga ang break up. You are wrong! Akala mo lang yan! Pero I know mahirap, hindi madaling gawin, or it takes time. Sure, sure, it takes time. Pero how long? 3 years? 7 years? Don't fret my love! Dahil eto ang kasagutan diyan. I will tell you the fastest way to move on! In an instant! Ang bagong Unilever MoveOn Capsules made with the finest coconut jelly and North Korean ginseng extract na mabibili exclusive sa Watsons! ..... Haha.. Wag kang tanga. Walang ganung instant pagdating sa nararamdaman. Pero try mo. Baka tumalab.

Heto na talaga.

Isipin Mo Siya Ng Isipin

Oo! Totoo.. Sabi nila forget him/her to move on. Oo nga. Pero when people tell you to do it, the more mo itong gagawin. Pasaway tayo e. Diyan tayo magaling. Now I dare you to think of him/her. Pagsawaan mo siya. Think of how much time you are wasting thinking of this person. And you know, studies show that when you repeatedly think (write or say) a word, you will have this weird thinking na this word doesn't have a meaning. It's called semantic saturation. A psychological thingy. Google it up. Malay mo. Manawa ung utak mo kakaisip sa kanya. Pero as much as possible stick to "forget him/her." :D

Iwasang Magisa

I know minsan masarap magmuni-muni at magdrama kapag you are experiencing loneliness. Parang you are in a drama series na ikaw ang bida, and api and mag-isa. It's okay lang naman to do it, kasi it's a way for your mind to flush out all that pain that you may be feeling right now. Pero a day or two will do. Again, 1-2 days lang yan. Anything longer than that should be avoided. You've cried enough. Spent your time alone long enough. The 3rd day? Avoid being alone. As much as possible you should not let yourself be alone kahit pumupupu ka pa. Kasi any time alone will make you hear the "love song music" playing in the background again, tapos you will start thinking how lonely you are and so and so forth.  Tapos? Ano? Edi hindi ka na nakapag-move nun! And being with family and friends and whoever (whatever) is a good, good thing! Makes you realize how happy the world is even without your ex.

Acceptance

Tama. Acceptance. I am sure there is 20% to 40% chance na you are thinking or hoping na magkakaayos pa kayo. Well, kung meron man, leave it to him/her, if you really want to move on, tanggapin mo na wala na talaga siya. Hindi mo hawak ang future, kapag sinabi nating acceptance it means many things: pagkalimot, pagbabago at pagparty-party! Pagkalimot kasi you will forget what happened-good or bad. Pagbabago kasi you will be someone new-a person without him/her. Pagparty-party kasi finally, natanggap mo na na you are officially single! Weeee!

Burahin Mo Siya Sa Isip, Sa Salita, At Sa Gawa

Everything na merong magpapaalala sa'yo sa kanya needs to be deleted or trashed or erased or trashed or burnt or trashed. GET THE PERSON OUT OF YOUR LIFE! And start by stopping yourself as a stalker. This actually the easiest thing to do. This is controllable e. You can delete the person on your phone or Facebook. Scared to be called 'bitter'? Who freaking cares! Hindi ka bitter when you do that. You are just strong enough to face the fact that the person is not part of life anymore! Tapos ngiti. :)

'Wag Humanap ng Kapalit

Isa sa malaking-malaking (napakalaking) pagkakamali ng maraming brokenhearted sa ngayon is yung maghanap ng kapalit. Sabi daw ng iba "YOU WOULDN'T GO TO THE SHOE STORE TO REPLACE YOUR SHOES WITH YOUR FEET BARENAKED, WOULD YOU?" This is fucking insane! It the same as "humanap ka ng kapalit habang nandiyan pa yung tao (or yung feeling) kesa naman mabakante ka (or mabakante ung feeling mo.)" Piece of shizzzzz! The best way to move on is to erase, let it that way for some time and let it be replaced without you forcing yourself into it. Hindi "erase and replace." Dapat may period in between na wala talagang laman. It will make you more human. So wag humanap ng kapalit -- give time for your heart to heal and then let the love begin.

Humanap ng Bago

Hindi kapalit ok? Kakasabi lang e. Humanap ng bago sa buhay mo. Either organization, kaibigan, pagkakaabalahan or simpleng gamit sa bahay. Kapag meron kasing bago sa atin, nafofocus ung utak natin dun. Diba? And the busier you are, the better you can move on. :)

Feel Good About Yourself

Yes! We aren't meant to be." Don't feel sorry about yourself. Wag kang magpakapathetic! You are worth more than who you think you are! And look at the mirror. Oha. T*nginang looks yan! Crush ng bayan. (asa) Well, wag lalaki ulo mo, pero what I am saying is, you are special.  Find your best asset or enhance it. Tapos labas and show it to the world. Wag lang shempre kung yang asset mo is your brain. Hindi pa zombie apocalypse, ma'am/sir.

To sum it up, moving on takes time and a lot of patience. Hindi siya madaling gawin kagaya ng iniisip mo na "mabilis" pero doing these tips make it "mabilis" in a sense na this is the fastest way you can move on in a short period of time.

Pero at the end of the day, it is still your choice to do whatever you wish. Walang kasagutan pagdating sa sakit ng pagkahiwalay, and the only person who can understand what you feel is the stronger you na nagtatago sa loob mo. The very reason why you are still living kahit a part of you already died.

Remember this, moving on is never easy, pero it's your choice if you will make your life miserable or not while doing it.

Tip ko sa'yo after reading this blog post? Eat! Sarap kumain kapag napapagod ka na kakasip no?

Senatorial Candidates for the Philippine Elections 2013

© Hyrons |Stock Free Images
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Election Day 2013 is near. And the bad thing is I am not a registered voter. I feel incomplete. As a Filipino, I believe it is an important part of your adulthood to participate in the elections. But if I were to vote, here are the senators that I will vote for! I am not maka-UNA or maka-LP, so basically my votes are based on my "stock knowledge" about these people. I don't even know which side they are. Hopefully, some of them win tomorrow! But guys, don't take it seriously or just thank God I am not voting tomorrow!

Walang personalan! Blog-blog lang!

On a serious note, I hope people VOTE WISELY! Vote the people who will help our country become a better place. To be honest, I don't know anything about the people above, and if ever I am about to vote, I will RESEARCH about each of them, and judge them according to what they did or can do.

Top 5 Anime Recommendations

TOKYO, Japan - Japanese cartoons contributed to the development of most of the youngers today. No doubt, anime is what kids today watch. But for some folks out there, they haven't even seen a single anime or probably didn't even know what anime is. Anime is the Japanese version of the American cartoon (or basically - a cartoon) - ever heard of Naruto or for older folks Voltes V? Yeah, those are anime. I am listing down the top anime "for me" so there's something for you to begin with. Again, these are my picks!

© Gataloca | Dreamstime Stock Photos & Stock Free Images

5.  YuYu Hakusho (Ghost Fighter)

Created in 1992, this was one of the most popular anime in the Philippines during the 90's. Everybody knows Eugene (the protagonist - the ghost fighter.) Basically the story revolves around  a team of fighters who had to fight in an arena (freestyle fighting in a stage with the audience who looked like malnourished monsters cheering for their favorites.) Just like any sports games, the winner advances a level ahead to fight with another set of players. The story has exciting episodes that will make you say "Aww I want more!" everytime. But lucky you, there's no stopping you from watching it since you can get the whole copy online or by a DVD.

4. Detective Conan

If you like mysteries and crime, then this is the most perfect anime for you! Conan was a teenager detective who mysteriously turned into a young boy because of some magical potion. Even though his body became 3x smaller, his detective skills ala Sherlock Holmes remained intact making his quest to solve mysteries unstoppable. How? Are kids allowed in a crime scene? That's what you needed to find out. The series has a different storyline each episode so you can stop anytime you want and start at any episode you wish. The best part of watching the anime is trying to find who the real killer is. (The episodes are usually about killing, so don't let your kids watch alone.)

3. Hunter X Hunter

Nostalgia. My family like this anime so much, we even purchased a whole set of DVD of the whole series. The story is about a young boy named Gon who has the primary goal of finding his estranged father. But in order to do so, Gon must become a licensed hunter first. Hunters are skilled people with their own specialty in a variety of fields. They are hired to do special tasks that normal people cannot do. But in order to be a hunter, aspirants must do very frustrating and stressful tests in which they must pass in order to level up. Believe me, the tests are so difficult, you would think licensed hunters must be real gods because they passed them. Gon is one of the youngest person who will take the test and his weapon? A fishing rod.

2. Death Note

If you are one those people who would like to stay away from the mainstream anime (mainstream is this: a group of friends fighting in a battle arena defeating the boss and then learning that there's another boss stronger than it and it goes on and on and on.) then this is the anime you are looking for. The story is very simple, a highschool boy found a notebook from the underworld (but it fell from the sky,) and whoever he writes on it would die. You can even manipulate the cause of death and the time of death. Amazing huh? But hey, this anime is very controversial. Some real kids even have their own 'toy' copies of this notebook (from novelty shops, of course) and wrote names of the people they hate. How scary huh! Okay, so going back, the student used the book to try change the world. And that's how exciting it will be. There will be parts of the anime that will make you feel gloomy. Well, I don't really know but in my case I felt like I am becoming evil watching it. It's so depressing. LOL. But anyhow, this is a must see, definitely one of the best anime ever made.

1. Fairy Tail

If you want a family-oriented anime, then this is the one I recommend. If there's an anime that doesn't show so much blood and deaths then this must be it. Fairy Tail is an anime revolving around Fairy Tail. But what is that? Fairy Tail is a name of a guild - a group of powerful mages with different skills and classes. Guild takes jobs from people - whether it be monster invasion or home cleaning services, they handle that as long as they are paid well. The story is full of adventure, comedy, drama and "astigness" that no ever anime has. Although I believe its primary target are the  younger audience, I fell in love with the TV show because of the TWISTS. This has full of it that will make you come back for more. And there are girls with bikinis, too.

I hope you guys liked my list. I have seen some of Naruto and Bleach and One Piece but I was never hooked on their storylines. I am a guy who becomes bored easily so please do understand. Hey what are you waiting for? Watch 'em now. You may try this site: http://www.animecrazy.net

Trying Samsung's S Memo

QUEZON CITY, Philippines - Samsung has an application that no other phone has. It's the S Memo app that is a built-in application for Samsung S3, Notes, etc. (End of Thinking Capacity)

So through time, I was excited to see that I have been literally scribbling drawings and words using it. And here are what I have come up with. They look like your little brother/sister/dog's drawing I know.. But I am here to show you how cute it is to use the app! It complete with all the brushes and pen tips essentials, and would definitely be a good app to play with. I am sure many of you can draw better than what I have come with below..

I dunno who this guy is. But he has some attitude.

Happy from Fairy Tail.

The very basic thing everyone would draw with their pens.

Elmo who looks like a drug addict.

Boat sailing the rough seas! I am so Picasso!

Unfinished art. Art?

A Critical Analysis of “Cybercrime law: Demonizing technology: by Sen. Guingona"

MANILA, Philippines - In an article written by Sen. Teofisto 'TG' Guingona III on the Rappler website entitled “Cybercrime law: Demonizing technology”, he strongly states that the “Republic Act 10175 is oppressive and dangerous.” RA10175, also called the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, is the latest “cyber law” that pushes legal actions against unpleasant online interaction. Though, the Senator clearly pointed out that we need a Cybercrime Prevention Act, he still disapproved the libel provisions of the law.

Guingona used three words to describe RA10175: vague, unfair, and oppressive. In vague, it is stated that since there is no clear definition of the people who are liable in making such cyber crimes, the practice of freedom and democracy for anyone is not envisioned in the law as anyone can be charged as long as there is enough proof of criticism. In this part of his article, Guingona used the provisions of the cybercrime act to show the imprecision of it. His argument proves to be correct as there was never anything mentioned regarding who can be held liable in such unpleasant acts. The vagueness is evident as to see nothing in an article means there is nothing to defend.

Calling it unfair, the senator also stated that RA10175 has a weightier punishment of up to 12 years imprisonment if proven guilty while the traditional libel act gets a mere four years and two months of jail years. In this statement, the validity lies to the facts of the laws involved. The traditional libel law has been active for many years now; therefore it is true that if proven guilty, one can be locked in for up to four years in jail. Seeing that the provisions of the new online libel law may take up to 12 years, it is unacceptable to state that it is unfair. First, it is not safe to compare an old law that has been in practiced for years now to a one that is still being reviewed by the lawmakers themselves as changes may still occur. Second, if ever the new law is already in effect, the extent of damage one can make by doing such libelous crime online is larger and bigger due to the fact that almost everyone has access to the internet, therefore the information (regardless of its accuracy) can easily spread out.

Guingona also noticed that double jeopardy is to anyone who is found accountable for cybercrime damages, both libel under the Revised Penal Code, and one under the Cybercrime Prevention Act. Oppressive is how he called it, the senator briefly stated the fact that one can be charged twice under two different accounts, but what is missing in this defense is the appeal of why and how it could happen The new law states that it can happen but the lack of education to the reason as to on which possible mistake is missing. The statement, though valid and correct, still can be misleading.

The senator stated in the last part of his article that he is not against to the whole of the RA10157 law, but to some of the provisions of it (the provisions stated above). It is therefore suggested that he would like to keep that law with exceptions, as for him, it is a good one but contaminated with unreasonable provisions. Although, the article is missing points as to why he still would like to keep the law as there would still be important points to it, it still won’t matter as the purpose of writing the article was to not to promote it, but to see why people should be worried about it. As a whole, all arguments given by the Senator are logical as most of his evidences are derived from the law themselves. A law state what it states, therefore, it is a clear that it cannot be disapproved or changed it by anyone who just likes so.

The arguments written in the article are good enough to hold any counter argument. Like what I have already mentioned, all the facts were taken from the laws and the drafts of them; therefore it is hard to disprove them. The only challenge the writer could face would be the information as to why and how (or even what) regarding his facts needs more explanation or further evaluation. Even so, I strongly agree with most of the points Guingona have given. Basing all my judgment on the facts given, RA10175 is a good law that needs to be revised to a level that is appropriate and reasonable as we are a country of democracy and freedom.

Is The Question "What is happiness?" Philosophical?

QUEZON CITY, Philippines - I came across one of my homework (or howemork) in my Philosophy subject and decided to publish it here. Fifty percent of the things I've written seems gibberish to me. Well, I didn't know what I was doing (or in this sense, writing.)

1. Is the question "What is happiness?" philosophical?

© Dancer01 Stock Free Images
The question “What is happiness?” is philosophical. A good philosophical question is a question, according to Avrum Stroll and Richard H. Popkin’s Introduction to Philosophy, which has seven characteristics of a philosophical problem. And this particular question includes: digging beyond the obvious—for we know exactly what happiness is. On second thoughts, do we really?

Let’s say the question is the argument itself. According to the book Philosophical Analysis, real arguments in natural language are not amenable to fully precise treatment. Many people would deal with the question with full of controversy and analogies. So, by thinking of the question--“What is happiness?”—we can come across many ways to evaluate it.

A philosophical question is one that has more than one legitimate answer. Therefore, the answer to this question can be different from one another. And the value of those answers has yet to be proven. The answers might be in many forms—making it a perfect example of a philosophical question.

2. Identify one valuable lesson that you learned in the Intro to Analysis of Statements which you think can help you in your life.

A valuable lesson I learned in the first part of the course that would probably help me in my life is the knowledge on how to analyze the truth-value of statements. We all have gotten into an argument without actually being confident about how well our statements have been. We just utter words that sometimes just don't make sense even if our mind tells us that we know exactly what we are talking about.

Since a truth-value is assigned by a rule of valuation to a statement in order to state how it relates to the facts in the Universe of Discourse, it can positively assist me to prove logically if an argument is valid or invalid. And that is by verifying that what I say is true. Proving that your statements are true lets you think critically. And if you have proven that your statement is true, it gives you the edge to converse more on your argument. On the other hand, proving that someone’s statement is false could deliberately end the argument.

Proving something fully provides you the absolute truth. Being a UP student who is potentially prone to arguments, it is important that I make sure I know the truth-value of my statements and the others’ as well. Even though knowing the absolute truth isn't what I need alone, it still makes me think every time I come across statements. It would save my life.

PSBank Debit MasterCard Review

MANILA, Philippines - In the Philippines, credit cards are becoming easier to have, but is that really a good thing? Easy credit card means easy money and it sure means easy debt. Ask yourself, you really need a credit card? Yes? You sure?

If the purpose of you wanting to have a credit card is to buy things online (because your ATM is not an alternative) or to go shopping in the mall without having to touch cash (because you believe it's so dirty) then proceed reading. I'll try to convince you that there is a better alternative. And oh. The title sure tells it to you already.

Let me introduce: PSBank Debit MasterCard

My own debit card!

What do I know about debit cards, you say? Well, I actually work as a phone banker of a large debit card provider in the US. I know how exactly how debit cards work and the internal process everything goes through. Do I sound legit now?

What is a debit card?

Debit card is money card that works exactly like a credit card but it debits the money off the card that you reloaded on it. So basically, it will only work if there is enough balance. Unlike a credit card which is preloaded with your credit limit (which you can request to be adjusted,) a debit card doesn't have funds on it, unless you load it with money.

What are the benefits?

First of all, it prevents you from spending more than what you have. Credit cards makes us spend and spend and spend even if we know we can't afford it anymore or it's beyond what we can really pay for. With a debit card, you know how much exactly you can afford. And ultimately, it saves you from debt.

What is a PSBank Debit MasterCard?

It is a debit card from PSBank (Philippine Savings Bank) with MasterCard as the POS (point of sale) processor. (You don't say!)

How do I get one?

It's very easy to have one! And the best thing about it is that it's free. Other bank's debit or prepaid cards charge you PHP500 for every two years, while the other will charge you PHP350 every year. But with PSBank's, it's only PHP 150 for every card replacement. And when do you need a replacement? On it's expiration date which is actually 3 years from the date you got your card. Awesome right? And the best thing ever? There is no charge on the first time you are getting one!

Before you go to the bank, make sure you have the following ready:

A. Completely filled-out Bank forms (PSBank will give these to you.)
  1. Application and Agreement for Deposit Accounts (AADA)
  2. Customer Information and Specimen Signature Cards
  3. Signed Terms & Conditions for PSBank Debit MasterCard
  4. PSBank Online Enrollment Form
  5. Inter-Bank Fund Transfer Form

B. Documents you need to provide.
  1. At least one (1) primary ID or two (2) valid secondary IDs with photo and signature

C. For applicants who are minors (7-17 years old)
  1. Quit Claim/Waiver signed by the parent or guardian
  2. Valid IDs of the legal guardian and the minor (passport/school ID)

All you have to do is to go to the nearest PSBank (yeah, try the farthest!)

Go to new accounts. And tell the account specialist that you want their debit card!

How long does it take before you get the card?

30 months.

Just kidding.

It's only 30 minutes. That quick!

Where can I use it?

This is actually the best part of it. Of course you get a card to purchase, don't you? It's actually usable almost everywhere! Online and offline!

Here are the online merchants I've tried using it with so far:

  • GoDaddy.com (not an adult site ok? It's a domain site! This is where I purchased some of the domains I have.)
  • Google Market (this is where you download paid apps for your Android phone!)
  • Amazon.com (to buy lotsa stuff.)
  • Google Blogger (this very site: www.callmejed.com, was purchased using this card.)

And here's an offline merchant I've tried using it with so far:

  • Mercury Drug store ( I bought biscuits worth PHP49.00!)

ATM's I've tried withdrawing funds to and the amount:
  • PSBank ATM: PHP100 (and it did go through)
  • Metrobank ATM: PHP100 (with additional fee)

So far, this cannot be used for PayPal yet! But I am sure they are doing their best to have this set up with them.

Other features?

According to PSBank: (May 2013)
  • Use your PSBank Debit MasterCard to shop and dine* in more than 30.2 million MasterCard-affiliated merchants nationwide.
You may do point-of-sale (POS) and online transactions with a daily combined purchase limit of PhP50,000 daily. The limit applies to individual and joint accounts and can be increased or decreased depending on your spending capacity. Adjustment on the limit can be requested in any PSBank branch or by calling the Customer Service hotline. If you have a joint account, each of you cards will have a purchase limit of PhP50,000.
  • Withdraw cash from any PSBank, BancNet, MegaLink or ExpressNet ATM in the country or from over 1.2 million MasterCard/Maestro/Cirrus ATMs overseas.
  • Your PSBank Debit MasterCard has no deposit fee and deposit limit. It’s an interest bearing account and ensured by the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) up to PhP500,000.00.
  • View your account statement for the last five (5) transactions.
  • Get your available account balance
  • Pay your bills.
  • Transfer funds between accounts (PSBank or other BancNet member banks, subject to enrollment).
  • Change PIN.

How do I load and how much will it cost?

Go to BDO or BPI, maybe? D-uh! Of course you go to PSBank! It's only PHP10 to load the card! :) If you have an existing PSBank savings or checking account then you can do bank to card transfers for free!

Can I access the account online?

You sure do! You needed to pre-enroll first! Then voila!

You can see the last transactions (name of merchant not listed for I don't know why,) the balance and the account info.

Here's a screenshot of MY online account.

Wee! I have 24 pesos!

How do I rate this product?

It's not perfect of course! But so far it's so good. I believe it's  the best debit card in the Philippines.
From 1 to 10, 10 the highest. I'd say 8.5! :)

And that's it!

Hopefully, I convinced you to get one! For questions, ask me or go to the bank.

This is not a paid advertisement. But I'd be glad if they would pay me! :D
